Dog-like almost. She would jump into the car, curl up below the back seat rear window, and either nap away or take in the scenery. When approaching the home stretch within about a half-mile, she'd rare up with paws on a side window, meowing eagerly until the car pulled into the driveway. That cat had some sort of an internal GPS system.

Friends warned us that the cat might try to return to the other house and suggested doing this. Put the cat in a carrier, put a small blanket over it, spin it and then put the carrier on the floor of the car before driving to the new place. We did that, moved in officially that weekend. Our cat was an outdoor cat and that Monday when my wife and I came home from our first work day since the move he was gone. The next day we got a from the house at the lake that he was there. He made it back the roughly 3 miles even after the spin trick above. He did this several times until, I swear this is the truth, I drove him to the old house and explained that we don't live here anymore and this is not where go when we leave. Then I took him back to our new place and walked around the place with and explained we live here now, this is yours. He never made another trip after that.

but hated being in the carrier more. My current cat is the same. So you take them out or else you are distracted by constant crying which makes an accident more likely.

She always had to throw up while being in the carrier but was completely calm the one time I could let her sit on my lap.
I assumed it's a more stable underground for them when they are not in the carrier that moves around and offers barely any grip inside.

was an absolute guarantee that I was going to have to bathe pee off of him later. Invariably pissed himself within minutes.
