Any plot that involves a person with amnesia.

(102,282 posts)Or any book or movie where it leaks that the beloved dog/pet/horse/other animal dies. Yeah, I can accept human loss more than animal loss-- in fiction, that is

(10,433 posts)I used to watch All My Children, they way over-used several plots, but the unknown twin is barely believable anyway, much less 2 or 3 times.
I really hate the death of animals also. I watched The Stray expecting a good story about a border collie. Not prepared for a sad story like that.

(9,267 posts)When the whole thing was apparently in the imagination of the one docs (forget his name) autistic son. Loved the series, HATED the way they ended it.
XanaDUer2
(10,678 posts)I didn't watch it much, but that is an odd way to end it.
The older doc who was widowed and raising his autistic son alone. It was the boys dream or he imagined it. Horrible way to end a great series.
The only good dream ending was the 2nd Bob Newhart show when he woke up next to Suzanne Pleshette.

The Velveteen Ocelot
(115,706 posts)that was introduced late in the story and whose relationship to the victim was obscure and/or contrived.
When the cop is a family member of the victim and/or falls in love with the victim's sister/friend and is either allowed to keep working on the case or investigates on his own and does illegal stuff but you know he's going to solve the case in the end.
When the female cop/protagonist meets a guy she immediately dislikes but he's handsome and troubled so you know they'll get together and solve the mystery, unless he turns out to be the serial killer.
When one of the characters has a beloved pet dog or cat because you know the pet will be killed off as a warning to the character.

(9,564 posts)is one of the few things I dislike about some Stephen King novels. If he mentions a beloved pet, look out, 'cause chances are the pet will suffer a grisly death.

It is the dark side of porn & comes from a demented narrowly sheltered & closed mind.
Its how Trump thinks of females.
I'm open to exploring & reading almost anything, but THAT topic is sick af.

(38,313 posts)I've done my best to avoid that shit in my sixth decade of so-called real life.
I'm somewhat broken by when I've failed. Especially the time travel stuff.
Amnesia and repressed memories I've dealt with.
At my very worst I'm mostly harmless and frequently amusing.

(4,858 posts)...I mean, how often have we seen *that*? Also--doomed, God-obsessed students who commit murder. Orphans who fall in with a gang of child thieves, led by a strange old Jew. A boy who's abandoned by his family to work in a bottle-labelling factory. An American journalist lounging around Europe, with his disreputable friends, who was made impotent by World War One. A man living in a hellish Dystopia, who rebels against the Party. Every time I see one of those, I moan and close the book...

states he killed his pet cat.
Sounds like my book, but unfortunately, it's not a plot twist. It's the whole reason why the Criminal (the sociopath) spends the rest of his life saving abused animals.
