So I installed my first mini french drain and I did it wrong. Put down a few gravel rocks as a base, put the pipe down, at too steep an incline, and filled the top with more gravel rocks and...I don't like the results. It just takes up too much badly needed room. So, I wanted to take up the rocks and lay down geo-fabric and wrap rocks and pipe like an enchilada so I can cover it up with soil.
The problem: It is just one mini project and I don't want to spent $200 for a commercial size roll. Anyone know where I can find this filter fabric at a homeowner price?

(46,755 posts)According to youtube videos, if you just put the gravel rocks down without the fabric protection you've put a expiration date on your project. But the fabric keeps everything compact and the gravel rock helps the water filter down to the pipe.

(768 posts)Put the pipe in a sock and put the gravel on the outside.

(768 posts)They put the pipe in a sock and then gravel and then landscape fabric. You can get the landscape fabric at Lowes, too, for a reasonable price.
Good luck. I need to do something like this myself.
