Having a deaf dog ... helping them learn ... you need extra tools ... that was so she could learn to see (by touch) when others were communicating

I just lost (to a brain aneurysm) my most wonderful deaf sheltie... after 11 1/2 years ... she could not hear, but she communicated better and more than any hearing dog I have ever had ..

If you looked up “joy” in the dictionary, you would have found Lily ... she never heard a bad word and was only love and happiness ...

My heart has a Lilysized hole ... 😢

I am sad for you, but happy you had 11½ years of joy with Lily and she too had 11½ years of love from you.

I know how heartbreaking it is. It's just so painful to not have them in your life anymore. I hope you find consolation in your joyful memories of her.

There are certain apps like Imgur and a few others that my company's security system blocks so there are some graphics I can't see, and other's I can. What kind of dog was she? I do wish I could see her. I just love dogs so much! They are angels on earth.

Hope it shows for you now

eta ... a gorgeous blue-eyed sheltie... mostly white ... double blue Merle (congenitally deaf) full of fun and laughter ....

We swore she slept with one eye open so that she could “hear” everything that went on around her.

She was my morning glory and the last kiss of every day.

Dogs have so much personality and they can just do the silliest things to crack you up - and their facial expressions!

I don't have a dog right now, but all my siblings have dogs and I am obsessed with them (a Black Lab, a Golden Retriever and a Swiss Mountain Dog). They each have their own quirky little personalities. I love just watching them no matter what they are doing. Even sleeping.

Anyway, again, I am so sorry for your loss. I hope you are able to get out of the house a bit and keep your mind off things. Take care of yourself!
