RANT of the DAY: Why are some older women called handsome?
2020-08-24 (13:24)
It is just older women, or am I being ignorant again?
Anyway, why are some women also called, "well preserved?"
What does any of that even mean?
Is it sexist to even think that way?
Ladies: What do you think? Would you mind if someone called you pretty? How about handsome, or even just well preserved? I'm sure they mean well, but I always cringe when I hear that. I think I'd rather be called vigorous and full of life, but that's me.
Men: who cares what you think (he, he, just kidding)?
Sure, I could do political rants, but there are two whole forums filled with other evil DUers doing just that.
Sometimes, you just need a place to get stupid, and even with the sniveling cat people, I still like it here most days.
See you tomorrow... maybe.
In the mean time, check out my "really old" (Unofficial) DU GLOSSARY:

We live in a racist and sexist and homophobic society.
We have to fight daily to make it a little less so each day.

change.
It's not easy, because like you said, it's systemic to our society, but I hope and believe searching for, and then critically analyzing the answers is one of the good places to start.
I know that sometimes my post tend to resemble a comedy routine, but there is a method to my madness.
Figuring out where that madness ends, and the method begins, is the really hard part.
Anyway, Thank you for sharing.
