All I know is when I saw them on tour in the mid 80's, Peter grabbed Davey's guitar and Davey said "Hey, that's my guitar!" and Peter said "Yeah, everybody knows the Monkees don't play their OWN instruments!"

and good times were had by all.

We saw him in the 80s. Good show. From our seats all of him was small, not just his face.

He (luckily) got passed over, because of his gross teeth at the time---and he saw to it that Peter Tork got a successful audition for the band.
