We're wanting to relocate our spices to an over-the-door shelf in our pantry, but the door is only 11" wide and I'm not finding anything less than 12" (e.g. Amazon, Google...). It probably needs to be no wider than 10" so that the shelf will clear the door frame during opening/ closing. Does anyone know if such a skinny shelf exists?

Thought about cutting one down... Notwithstanding i may not have the right saw for the job, doing so would also eliminate one the hooks on the top.

(6,490 posts)I've had them for many years. Think I probably got them at one of those storage/packaging stores.
I found a couple on Wayfair under 12" but they're 11" so still won't help.

(12,821 posts)... the shelf would have to have very little depth in order to swing past the door frame.
Hadn't checked Wayfair...

(55,025 posts)you would have to put in a nail/hook/screw or two (or maybe just bend the top over?) but it would be narrower

(12,821 posts)That definitely has possibilities!

(55,025 posts)but another possibility is an over the door shoe bag/caddy the kind that are fabric with a dozen or so clear plastic pockets. I saw one that had 3 hooks so it might be able to be trimmed to just 2 hooks and then you would have like 6 or 8 pockets. when I saw that I thought meh but now kind of thinking of it, it might work or be easier to make from scratch if you were inclined.

(12,821 posts)Trimmed down to 2 columns and 2 hooks, it would still be 12" wide.
Spouse liked the pocket idea, though. It was sort of like a shoe caddy, but less bulky, designed for pantry stuff.
