(30,947 posts)I have already been in a couple of ice-related accidents. I did not know how horrid ice could be because I moved up here to North Georgia from South Florida, but I soon found out. Of course, I never experienced ice on roads in Florida.

My principle has always been that if I can't get there walking with my ice cleats, I don't go.
IDIOTS. If you see cars traveling sideways, it's too icy to drive!!!!

(5,198 posts)and still had studs on my tires the next winter on the East coast--and was the only one making it around in the snow and ice ....it was amazing. Everyone was sliding around but my little car was making it!! Studs are illegal--I eventually had them yanked out of the tires, but every winter I wished I had those bad boys

(195 posts)Everywhere? As far as we know, we're allowed to have studded tires on the car from mid-November until mid-April. Good thing, too, because we live on a mountain and there'd be no getting anywhere in the winter if we couldn't have studs. After April 15, however, it's another story. Maybe it depends where you live.

(33,982 posts)Most people here don't know how to install chains at all. some are running summer compound tires.
I can't caution visitors enough, my people do not know how to drive. You should see the new roundabout we got in my home town. It's a disaster. No one knows how to use it.

I lived in Michigan. I was raised where they do donuts and rooster tails for distance on lakes.

(33,982 posts)Next time it rains, plan an extra half hour at least to get to work.
AT LEAST.

(32,723 posts)who doesn't know how to operate the windshield wipers, and when they finally figure it out, they can't figure out why they aren't working to clear the rain very well when they rotted away three years ago. Then they act like they didn't know they needed to be replaced and ask if they need to take it back to the dealer for that and can't understand why they would be bad when they never use them. Then you get to hear them get hysterical with their dealer because they aren't covered under their warranty. You take them over to the auto parts store, get the ones for their car, put them on and they act like you're a mechanical genius.
