The management of a new supermarket in Süderlügum, Germany wanted to make a splash when the doors of Priss grocery store opened to the public. Instead of offering a free ham with a purchase, Priss Nils Sterndorff offered a shopping spree of $337 (270 euros) to the first 100 naked customers in the store.
To Sterndorffs surprise, about 250 nude shoppers came to the store, many of whom were Danes. The supermarket is only about 2.5 miles south of the Denmark border.
Especially popular were alcoholic beverages and sweets, which are more expensive in Denmark, according to a translation of German news site, Bild.de.
Prior to the opening, some of the customers reportedly spent the night camped outside the store.

(146,317 posts)Note: I'm not all that impressed. In any case, the clothed shoppers didn't seem bothered by the naked ones. Germany's a little more sophisticated than the US about such things, it seems.

(146,317 posts)All that stuff they're buying is all packaged and sealed. Let it all hang out, I say.
What's really funny is that the rest of the German shoppers aren't paying any attention to the naked ones. I do like that about Europeans. It's none of their business, so they don't get all upset if someone's naked. We're all naked under our clothing anyhow.

(25,816 posts)Clothes can be a good thing for many if not most people. Next time you're at the supermarket---never mind...
Then she asked me if I would do it for $337, and I had to think about it. Maybe in a different town.
