About 2 months from my 57th birthday I got my first ever flu shot today

I've never worried about it because I very very rarely ever get sick and can usually trace that back to food. (I've thrown up twice in the last 30 years and one of those was definitely bad food).

But I reckon It's time to stop depending on dumb luck.

I was totally surprised by how little I even felt the needle. But I do have a road trip for work tomorrow so I hope I don't get a little sick for that.

never had a bad reaction from them. Although I have got the flu a few times anyway. Sometimes they miss on the virus they are not 100%.

I was haphazard with flu shots most all of my life because like you, I’ve rarely been ill. Only reason I got one was if I was at work the day they were giving them out free.

But I’m 57 too, and your immune system wears down with age like the rest of your body does as we enter into our golden years. So good for you, make it a yearly thing now, they’re free and available at most grocery stores for Pete’s sake.

plus we got a 10 dollar gift card for our local grocery store (the one we already use anyway) so my reward will be a 6-pack of craft beer instead of the the cheap stuff!

and hand you coughed-on money with their snot-stained hands.

I'm in IT for the last 20 years so I don't often have to deal with people in public and my "customers" are my co-workers but I can usually fix them remotely without having to go touch their mice and keyboards. And we have plenty of access to sanitizer and soap when I do.

... starting the evening of the shot, ending a few hours later. So, cost a bit of sleep and a bit of worry. But, I felt fine and went to work the next day.

That was only one time. And, maybe it was my fault, since I got a pneumonia shot at the same time as the flu shot. Duh.

You'll be fine.

So I reckon I was worried for nothing.

But fate wasn't interested in letting me off the hook that easy - battery died a hundred miles from home so I had to get a new one.

Beats flu symptoms though!

Got the quad version. Didn’t feel it either and my arm wasn’t sore yesterday or today.

It’s a good idea to get one this year!
