Some barns keep them around to mark stuff but they can become toys for the barn animals.

One of my trainers had real traffic cones (I never asked where he acquired them) in the arena to mark out riding patterns. My colt that he was training loved to play with them. Every night the horse would rearrange them and some nights he'd toss them over the fence.

That colt came from a lineage that was not found of dogs so he would not have played tug of war like in the video. His sire took a chunk out of a dog's back when it was let loose on my property without my permission. The colt did love playing with the 55 gallon barrel we gave him as a toy and chased it up and down the hill for fun.
