writte and directed by Aaron Sorkin.
Wow. Well done. I was a rising senior in high school in the summer of '68 during the Democratic National Convention in Chicago. My parents were Republicans. The Vietnam war was raging.
I remember a conversation at dinner one night when I was arguing in favor of ending the war. My mother didn't like my attitude and she threw the water from her glass in my face. I picked up my glass of milk and threw that in her face. She left the table. Astonished. My dad was exclaiming, "oh, Christ. Oh, balls."
If you have Netflix, watch the movie.

(31,404 posts)My parents were SO Republican. It was really tough growing up in that house. My mom had a framed photo of Ronnie in her kitchen in the '80's. I would come home to visit them in the '80's and just about puke to be in the house.
I was most sympatico with my dad, but he was a die-hard Republican, too. Better at avoiding political confrontation than my mom was. And he had no idea how to negotiate the mother/daughter teenage relationship issues--without adding in political differences--so it was a household that mostly didn't talk about much of anything. I couldn't wait to get out of there.

I was between sophmore, and junior year in HS Summer of '68.
Turned out we were on vacation during the Democratic Convention. We'd come back to the hotel after the day's doings and watch the Convention before or after after dinner except one night.
We watched in horror at Mayor Daley's thug police!
