Local media has temp at 101 degrees

My thermometer says 109 degrees. NWS forecasts it could reach 106.

Whatever it is I went outside to get my mail across the road and it was very bad. Let my oldest girl out to go potty and I think it was too hot for her paws when trying to get back inside so I had to go get her. Glad I didn't go anywhere today.

2. Our two canines didn't last half an hour outside - and that's WITH fresh cold water!

There's a nice breeze and the shade feels good, but it's just too damn humid. I had to come in because I couldn't breathe outside.

crashes on the cool tile floor in the hallway. That's of course after they get all slobbery drinking water and drool all down the hallway.

We only have about 30% humidity here. Had just a bit a rain earlier this week I think. Haven't mowed the lawn for about 3 weeks now.

We are also on fire ban in NE Indiana. This will put the legality of the fireworks law to the test.

You walk outside and it's like walking into a blast furnace. Every so often a shot of hot air just hits you in the face, and after a few minutes you feel weak. I just had the dog out (a black and tan Dachshund) to do her business -- no go. The humidity is low enough so that there isn't an appreciable heat index, so thank God for small favors, I guess.

The craziest part of the day, though, was getting an e-mail from a running group I used to belong to. They have a 6 p.m. Thursday run, and it's still on. The leader claims he runs better in hot weather, and that he wants to beat Mother Nature at her own game. I'm sure he'll get a pretty fair turnout. What craziness.
