(29,414 posts)I suggest having a look at the Wundermap (Weather Underground.) This one is for Baltimore:
http://www.wunderground.com/wundermap/?lat=39.29592133&lon=-76.62371826&zoom=8&pin=Baltimore%2c%20MD&type=hyb&rad=1&wxsn=0&svr=0&cams=0&sat=0&riv=0&mm=0&hur=0
Also, click on the "Storm Tracks" function to learn ore about each storm.

(11,924 posts)The 75 lb dog has been trying to crawl under my nightstand and I've been hearing branches falling and hitting our roof. I have our flashlight at the ready. So far our power has just been off and on, but in the storms that came through last week, our friends (5 miles away) were without power for 24 hrs.

(29,414 posts)Keep it handy as it's great for looking up all kinds of weather, including fire warnings and air-quality.
And now that those of us on the coasts no longer have Stormpulse to use (they went "pro" with high-priced subscriptions) Weather Underground fills in the gap nicely for hurricane tracking and prediction

(20,176 posts)Roommate says the cable went out. For him, that must have been devastating...he's a wanker. Doesn't read, has no friends, never leaves the apartment, has no life. When the French-language news is your bestie and constant companion, you're lame.

(20,176 posts)Apparently the plaza was full of debris but they've cleaned that up. Also, at least some part of Silver Spring is without power though my neighborhood and Downtown and Wheaton have power.
