So Jeannie came up with a new New Year's Eve antic.

You open the doors of your house before midnight to let the old year out,
then leave it open for a while after midnight to let the new year in.
It sounded OK to me at bedtime, but when she woke me at 11:50 pm,
it was about 35 degrees outside. So when the rite was over I had to build a new
fire in the woodstove. Why can't the New Year come between June and July?

I think you have to open the front door and the back door (this tip came from the Texas panhandle) panader0 Jan 2021 #5
That makes more sense. I'll try that now although badhair77 Jan 2021 #6

decided to open my front door this morning when the dog went for the newspaper. That’s just going to have to do.

to get all of the old out--a little cross ventilation. We have three downstairs doors but could
only open two because we didn't want the cats to run outside.
