the top picture is a play on a kind of fishing in Asia I've seen before where loons on a looped line are used to catch fish. The loop keeps the loon from being able to completely swallow the fish which is lodged in its long neck. The fisherman pulls upward on the bird's neck to force it to regurgitate the fish which remains whole.

the picture of the hands and arms in a heart gesture is popular in the Far East. People do it invariably when they taking selfies or are aware they are being filmed.
