Threading the needle of three proverbs:

1. Familiarity breeds contempt

2. Absence makes the heart grow fonder

3. Out of sight, out of mind



So, I guess, you don't want to be around someone all the time.

But you want to be away some of the time, so that the "heart grows fond."

You definitely don't want to be away all the time, so they forget about you completely. Or maybe you do, depending on who it is. (like my friend who loves Trump)
