(Our dog still hates 'em, though!)

(8,445 posts)I had a dog that did that. He's carry his treat (such as bone or piece of meat) around, digging here and there, and then he'd actually rub the treat in the hole before finally putting it where he wanted it. After he was long gone I'd find buried toys.
We're pretty dry here where I live, and I worry about wildlife getting enough water. So every morning, along with my other chores, I put out a bowl of water for the squirrels and anything else that might be thirsty. I'm probably inviting a big problem on myself by making my back yard so inviting.

(28,125 posts)Used to think they were dumb, well, because of the way they'll run in front of your car.
But until I lived in my current home, I never had squirrels surrounding me in trees.
I've fed them for yrs & had 1 little one get impatient if he/she didn't get their food treats before noon. That booger would climb our side window screen so he could stare directly at me; then he chattered & fussed if I took too long to move to get his treats.
He came inside once when I was taking too long to get the treats out the open door. Our Lab, said "hey, get out buddy."
