3. Our tuxedo female has jumped up into the refrigerator many times.

The funniest occasion was when she had to have no food after 10 PM so she could be an anaesthetized for a dental cleaning. She was NOT happy about not getting breakfast, and leaped into the frig as if to say, “Surely there must be something in here for ME!”

We have a big black and brown tabby named Winston. He would be proud to share his name with the Biden’s cat.

12. We have a black cat

who as a stray adopted us years ago. She adores her cat sister (another stray who adopted us) and her two brother dogs and loves being around them.

Winston looks like he's right at home among the goodies. I hope he enjoys a nice happy life with his new family!

24. We had a Calico who loved one, then another, years later, of our big dogs (male Afghans).

She would follow them from room to room and sleep near them at night. One loved her right back and the other was kindly tolerant. She was an adult cat when we had them.

Thanks for posting this. I don't use Twitter much, but this is one account I'll happily follow. As a parent of one rescued and two adopted cats, and as a shelter volunteer, I'm happy to see someone celebrate the return of pets to the White House, that also touches on the "Adopt, Not Shop" theme.

And hurrah for tuxedos!

17. You're right. This is not the official first cat.

This is Naomi Biden's cat, who is temporarily the acting first cat until Joe and Jill adopt their own.

But I see that Winston is formal, in a tux and white gloves, so he fills the role of acting COTUS well.
