For those who are thinking of leaving DU. ALthough I have no immediate plans of leaving DU - here is my goodbye post:

Goodbye everyone, Since there has been discussion regarding whether or not my posts to this community are relevant, I have decided to no longer post here. After the last few weeks or so of posts (and the often aggressively and needlessly snarky comment storm that accompanies several of them), I feel that I must leave this community. this community would be much better if you didnt jump down every persons throat on almost every damn post. I am soooo outta here. I left highschool a long time ago i don't need to be back there.

11. Farewell, DU - Farewell

Goodbye everyone!

I'm going in for brain surgery. Discussion in Help & Meta regarding HoF, Juries, Bronies, and a host of other off the wall topics has caused a piercing pain in my head, alternating with breathing issues from laughter. I've tried self medicating with a variety of alcoholic products. While they have helped some, it's to the point where I'd need Hunter S. Thompson's supply of blotter acid and mescaline to really make since of any of this.

...and it's not just me. Even after hiding Help & Meta, the folks over at Conservative Cave are laughing so hard I'm afraid they'll have serious abdominal strains. Sure they're wingnuts - but they're people too, and I don't want to see anyone get hurt. Especially the guys who correctly identified the electrical problem with my Taurus.

Over the weekend, someone asked me this: "We light off fireworks for 4th of July -- what do they do for Canada Day?" Without any thought, believing I was being whimsical, I replied "They pour maple syrup on beavers." Then I realized what I'd just said. At that moment, all the DU alert reasons occurred to me.

So, tomorrow I go for an MRI. Like Yogi Berra before me, I suspect images of my head will show nothing. The anticipated brain surgery will be followed by an intensive rehabilitation stint in Islamorada (about halfway between Key Largo and Key West).

Although absent from DU, I will miss the ads for cute Filipino and Thai singles, as well as the occasional ad imploring me to support Michelle Bachmann. Rest assured that your star donations and those ad revenues will come in handy, as I intend to sue Skinner and EarlG for every dime in expenses, which are certainly medical in nature, and should not be construed in any way as any sort of vacation. Elad doesn't seem to have much to do with this, so I'll leave him out of it.
