Lucked out - got COVID vaccine

Phizer

Dose 2 kicked my butt! Fever, severe chills, diarrhea, vomiting, loss of taste and smell (a minor blessing given the diarrhea and vomiting!), fatigue. Finally feel 100 back to normal today (got the second dose on Friday). Just submitted a vaccine adverse reaction report.

Better than getting Covid, though!

I have been hearing that the Phizer had fewer side effects than the Moderna. We both got the first Phizer and will get the second on Friday.
Glad you are feeling better.

same day/time. He has some minor achiness. I definitely seemed to be a few standard deviations off the norm. My reaction appears to have been worse and more severe than anyone else I know who got the vaccine (lucky me).

My theory is that, based on my reaction, had I actually gotten Covid I probably would have had a more severe case! Makes it all the better that I got the vaccine!

about being prepared to be feverish and he pointed out that only 30% of people have a reaction and far less than that get a fever. The next day I said "I guess I was part of that 30%" and he said "less than 30%." So, yeah, my reaction really was pretty extreme.

On the other hand, if that's close to or about the worst it can be, it wasn't actually that bad. I was truly miserable for about 5 or 6 hours and then felt almost like I was hungover for the rest of the day.

My biggest mistake was not taking advil or tylenol before going to bed. By the time I was in the midst of the extreme chills I wasn't functioning well enough to take anything. I did have an electric throw rug which, set to high, and combined with slipper, a fleece blanket, fleece bathrobe, and pajamas finally managed to stop the shaking!

At least you know you had a great immune response. Mine was Moderna and up until I read your post, I thought I had the worst reaction of anyone I know.

I just had the first one. No side effects except a sore arm and slight fatigue. My daughter had both, no issues. My Mom, 90, had the first one with zero reaction.

Several friends who had Moderna ran fevers, body aches and were laid up for 2-3 days, one said 5 days.

I don't know if that's just anecdotal and maybe others had different experience.

I was super worried about my husband getting his second Moderna vaccine yesterday am. So far zero effects.

How long after getting shots did you develop your symptoms?

So glad you are back in the land of the living 🙂

It kicked my ass, too, but at least I was spared the GI symptoms. I am so sorry. Like you, though, I'd do it again. Better than covid. Hugs.
