I think you are making a gentle joke at my expense.

But still, I've been flabbergasted for decades now that people take enormous pride in being bad at math. Why? Would you take similar pride in being bad at shopping for groceries? Putting gas in your car? Helping your young child learn their ABCs?

Okay, so I do get it that algebra, geometry, or calculus are not really going to help out in your day-to-day life (although it might interest you to learn that your car's speedometer uses calculus to figure out exactly how fast you are going) but still, only knowing the relatively few things you need to know for your everyday life narrows your world. Sadly narrows your world.
