Only cat

My old girl became an only cat in December. My other 2 cats used up their 9 lives over the years. My remaining kitty has become boss of the house and is enjoying every minute of her solitary life. If I do one thing for her one day, she expects me to do that thing every day at the same time from now on. She is an old, fat girl. When she had the company of other cats, she ate all of her food and then cleaned up what the other cats left. Now, she is picky. She just wants the sauce off the canned food, for instance. I know she can eat, because she gets some Hills dry food. She would clean that dish, too, but now she leaves some. I took her in with me the other day when I laid down to read on my bed. So now, she lets me know when it is time for her nap. I lay down with her, because I don't want her jumping off the bed. Along with fatness, she has some arthritis and I worry about her joints. I got a Fur Haven self-warming pad, and she has started getting up on a low foot rest she likes. She had stopped laying there for awhile, so I hope the mat is doing her some good.

It is just so surprising how fast she has adapted to her new status as queen of the house. lol Luckily, she is a good old girl and good company

I'm glad your old girl is taking full advantage of her new status as Queen!

I know what time it is when I see my cat's location in the house - he shifts from one location to another in the family room in the mornings and then starts rotating through the bedrooms in the afternoons.

There were three, but two of them ran out of lives this past summer. Pixie, who is 12 and has always been something of a diva, seems to be enjoying her solo reign as the empress of the house she allows me to share with her. I don't know if she misses the other two (she seemed to enjoy picking on them a bit), but she does like having me to herself.

and terrorized the 3rd cat. First and 3rd got along fine, but he was the boss. He always made sure he was triangulated in relation to the girl cats. My husband noticed Flashie would pick a spot where he could watch both girl cats. Always. He died in June, and after that the girl cats didn't have much to do with each other.
