UPDATE- fire controlled about midnight!

Neighbor, fire crew, just said they got it down about midnight, now he's off to go fishing.

Just read the "Forum purpose:" I apologize, my post would go against "No drama.", but this old woman was pretty shook.

Blame the Mayor, she's the one who called asking to seek prayers for the safety of our volunteer firefighters!

THANKYOU DUers!

I sure didn't sleep well, its not the fear as much as being unable to do anything. Sadly I have such a pre occupation with the number of rattlesnakes and copperheads in the woods I wouldn't be much use on a fireline.

Am off to see where exactly the burned area is, Saturdays I clean the church-will have a little something extra to do in the chapel area today.

THANKS again. Its our 12th day of triple digits, and TWC sent out heat alerts for tomorrow as well, only 101 and only will feel like 103...AGAIN.

fire is a damn scary thing, hard to predict or control. fear is completely understandable.

i'm glad it's contained and i hope you guys get a break in the heat soon.

We lost a lot of trees because of the heat.

We had a lot grass fires because everything was so dry.

There was a fire on my Aunt's farm, lost grass and trees.

The grass is growing back but the trees will take awhile.

Not as clearly as fizzgig, but a lot better than earlier this week.

The heat and drought seem to be impacting our wild critters roamings. Begs the remark:
WHAT GLOBAL WARMING?

Take care out your way.

The "drama" referred to, I believe, is drama like that in personal sniping ("did so" "did not" "fuck you" no, fuck YOU&quot or
that sociopolitical drama better discussed elsewhere. The Lounge is something of an escape from that, something of a
pressure relief valve... as well as a place to seek positive support and empathy for negative personal situations (though
not generally the kind in parentheses above).
.
You came to and were in the right place -- that should be evidenced by the kind of replies you got. Maybe I'm wrong,
but I bet you didn't get any replies telling you to take it elsewhere.
.
At least I sincerely hope not -- that wouldn't fit the Community Standards of THIS community.
.
Glad things have resolved and your personal concerns have been alleviated.

Nope, DU helped with that "I can't do anything to help" mindset, especially after my ex-boss called a friend to get a hold of me.... She said there was nothing I could do, not iced drinks, not any presence at the scene, just she was concerned about our firefighters safety. (By the way she also took the training after elected to Mayor, they only let her bring iced tea, etc. ) methinks she just needed to say what she did to someone, and she knows I care about community.

Shook fits, and I AM Grateful to DUers!

It was Drama to me MFM. Not confrontational or insultive, but was the worse night's sleep in a very very long time. thanks for one more time.
