Man visiting Gettysburg battlefield gets trapped by downed tree in porta potty
A man visiting Little Round Top at Gettysburg National Military Park on Friday had to be rescued from a portable toilet.
The Barlow Volunteer Fire Department was called to Wheatfield Road at 3:52 p.m. The firefighters arrived to find a man trapped in a portable toilet. Pictures that the fire department posted from the scene show a tree that fell down right near the portable toilet and one that fell onto the hood of a van. The man was trapped by the fallen tree.
To get the man out of the portable toilet, crews cut away the tree with a chainsaw, and cut the porta potty open with a Sawzall, the paper reported.
He was very lucky, Barlow Volunteer Fire Department Assistant Chief Joe Robinson told the York Daily Record. It was a large tree, and it just missed striking him. It could have been very serious.
