The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsSkittish Kitty sat, patiently waiting for me to refill the food bowls and giving me slow blinks.
I saw her waiting for Spooky Kitty to finish up. Spooky Kitty is still very wary of me, and takes off as soon as his/her tummy is full. But today I got closer to Skittish Kitty, than ever before - about 6 feet - and she made no moves to increase the distance. I always do the whole slow blink to, hopefully, show I'm friendly and today was the first time Skittish Kitty returned the blinks. I didn't try to get any closer, though. Baby steps.

(26,268 posts)She's obviously getting a little more comfortable with my presence, with makes me quite happy.
Now, if Spooky Kitty will just chill..................

(2,636 posts)Sat on porch step, let BooBoo, the accidental kitty, rub against me. Tamed the three pirate kittens, but never quite got Booboo to stop puncturing my calves.
patience and food.

(14,155 posts)... she is only playing you to set you up,... so you get closer. Then her intention is to eat your little toe.
Warning,... don't wear flip flops or sandals near her.

(26,268 posts)I have a bowl of fresh water for them, too.
Today, for the first time, Spooky when took off, he/she stopped after a few feet, and sat down to see what I was going to do. Normally the exit is much more frantic and distant. That's how Skittish was, too, at first. So I'm making some progress with these two. The others tend to come by in the middle of the night.

(14,155 posts)... and also when you watch them eating. Get low to the ground (sit or kneel) so you don't look so intimidating and tall.
Sounds like a fun spring and summer project to cavort with nature and fuzzy friends.
