Well, we got our second shots. It was NOT a piece of cake, but it's done

I thought I had gotten away clean, but I woke up at 4 AM with an excruciating pain in my left lower back. It was so intense that I considered calling an ambulance, except that I knew there was a 99% chance it would disappear in a few hours. Sure enough, at 9 AM, I fell asleep, woke up at 11 as nothing had happened. I hope that is the end of it. It was a miserable 5 hours.

My wife had headaches and general muscle pain, but nothing as intense as I had (though longer-lasting).

Here's hoping that is the end of it for now.

I had no real side-effects to speak of other than being a bit more tired than usual and also, the pain I live with was worse for some reason.

I hope it is uneventful for you!

Take care!

is to drink non-diet sports drinks to avoid the weird, intensely painful muscle cramps post COVID shot.

Anecdotally, in our house it *seemed* to help (obviously we had no control group).

The only thing we were told to expect is that it would be different for everybody.

At any rate, it‘s done and we‘re OK, do the rest is of little consequence

an acceptable response. In any case if I am errant please refer me to another 'DU forum. I live in SC. I'm 74. The local news stated that all pharmacies, Publix, Walgreens, CVS, Walmart etc. were now accepting walk-ins with no appointments necessary.Yet at every attempt to get a covid shot I was told to book an appointment. A friend of mine sent this in email: Was just at Walmart, Main st. Moderna shots for walk-_ins, no appointment necessary. Again today I trekked to Walmart, showed my ID and health coverage only to be told that my info could not be found. Then she /he said you have to make an appointment online. This was an email from a friend of which she wrote, Was just at Walmart, Main st. Moderna shots for walk-_ins, no appointment necessary. Not the case. I have tried to make an appointment online ut was not fast enough to make said appointment, stating "your ...something, time has expired. This is hell. I want the vaccine, why is this so complicated?

15. We heard that some places in the USA were accepting walk-ins

But we were on a tight schedule, and couldn't risk being refused at a walk-in, so I asked my office in Dallas to schedule our appointment. At the first vaccination, they gave us the appointment for the second. The people at my office here said they only needed a three-day advance notice to get the first appointment. I have no idea what the situation is in South Carolina, but a call ahead might worth a try.

get on the phone and start calling:
"the local news said... blablabla" so are you taking walk-ins or do i have to make an appointment?
if they tell you they want appointments as if you can just make one now over the phone.

keep trying.

11. My Two Shots (Pfizer)
Tue May 11, 2021, 07:30 PM

First shot--a sore arm around the site of the shot for about 24 hours.

Second shot--I wasn't quite sure I'd received a shot. The shot itself was absolutely painless, and there was no soreness for the rest of the day. The next day, a little soreness where the shot had been, which was a relief.

The only thing I've noticed is that when I walk into the dining room, all of the silverware flies out of the drawer and attaches itself magnetically to my upper arms. Kind of strange, considering silver is not magnetic.

Just to be clear, one of the above paragraphs is facetious.

I felt an almost overwhelming compulsion to buy Microsoft products. I managed to resist, although just barely, and the urge went away after a couple of days. But the reminders on my computer to update Office have been more relentless than usual.

BF had Pfizer, he said he felt a little tired for a bit the day after but he didn't experience much in the way of symptoms. Best Friend had Moderna (now she has recently finished chemo and radiation), she felt like crap the day after her second shot, but better after that.

I've had my first shot (Moderna), had some soreness a couple days after, then a week after that the area where I got the shot I developed a red area on my arm. It's mostly gone now, and going to get my second shot next Friday (21st). Thankfully I'm off that weekend.

any history of them? other than injection location, all the pain reactions I have heard of were more generalized like flu - as your wife had.
