Never saw West Wing so didn't know Allison JANNEY before and didn't see Mom until 2-3 years ago. The first time, I was *shocked* with the whole premise of the addiction recovery process and interpersonal difficulties in a comedy. Somebody in Lounge told me it was excellent and soon got hooked. Plus the classical music transitions grabbed me (GLINKA's Overture, Ruslan and Lyudmila). Did some bingeing on old episodes, but still didn't keep up with the new ones, and it's been outstanding. Actually was familiar with Anna FARIS from before from the Scary Movies.
Became totally hooked/addicted to Allison and Anna, ecstatic about the Oscar, happy/unhappy Anna got rid of the Chris PRATT jerk, unhappy she quit the show.
Anyway, tonight was the final finale forever, and got interrupted and missed it until the last five minutes. Besides the HAPPY event in the episode (not spoiling about what the HAPPY event was), there was something BAD (can guess what it was). If somebody wants to DM it to not Spoil, please do, tia. Unless spoiling is not really an issue.

(31,112 posts)Sadly i think the star Anna Farris has some eating or weight issues and could not continue.
I love Janney but I also love Kristen and the rest.
Great show, most of Lorre's shows are good.

(70,711 posts)It's called "Unqualified." And the title just screams low self esteem. I've listened a few times and she sounds so flat affect and needy, sort of pleads with her guests about how wonderful they are (hinting, compared to her). Inducing (my) wanting to help her. Her child with PRATT has a congenital impairment. And PRATT went off to marry a SHRIVER-SCHARTZENEGGER, how original, sensitive, and caring - but then I've known people who did all they could until finally splitting from somebody.
As for LORRE, my knowing nothing until the Charlie SHEEN thing, had a negative impression, but eventually realized they were dealing with SHEEN's addiction breakdown and weren't the villains he said. Let Big Bang grow on me, haven't seen anything else.
Kristen I've seen more, since Third Rock, plus The Exes.
*****As for the spoiler (not doing it) - I'm fairly sure my private guess is right, but can't HINT!1

(70,711 posts)Yes, it was in general (not totally specific) what I thought. Leaves it as very difficult but not totally hopeless.

(2,280 posts)For a show that was generally so well done , this final episode was a dud.
Not sure if it was already in the can when they were non-renewed and they thought they had more stories to tell or if it was just a bad final episode.
