Happy Astronomy Day!

The "Pillars of Creation"--a composite of 30 images taken by the Hubble space telecope in 1995, approx. 6500-7000 light-years from earth, located in the Eagle Nebula The "pillar" on the left is approximately four light-years from "top" to "bottom"; the entire image is roughly five light-years in width. This cloud of hydrogen gas and dust is giving birth to a number of new stars.



The Andromeda Galaxy (Messier-31), 2.5 million light-years from earth.
