Can anyone give me an approximate cost of getting your entire car detailed?

Avis/Budget charged me $450 to vacuum dog hair from the back seat of a car I rented from them. I covered the seat with a blanket, but during the drive she knocked it down & yes, there was dog hair on the back seat, & no I didn't take the time to vacuum the hair myself as it was a long, long day dealing with medical issues. But $450 is a charge I would expect if my dog had vomited all over the place or if she had chewed up the upholstery, not to vacuum some hair off a seat.

I don't know whether to contest this charge or just pay it & scorch them on social media.

Depends on size of car. $125 would be a good deal. $250 up for large SUVs hlthe2b May 2021 #1

You might talk them down with "interior only." I would have found the nearest self-serve car wash with a vacuum if possible.

BTW, I've never had Enterprise charge me, but I haven't had that issue recently.

Call some places in the same city as the rental place and use that as leverage to contest. Especially if it was not clearly specified in your contract.

Charges $25 for an interior and exterior cleaning that always gets rid of a ton of dog hair.

and googling suggests all the agencies are cracking down (likely a lot of extreme abuse in recent years)... Still, they should tell you what the fees would be BEFORE you incurred them.

and the charge is $150-$225 depending on what needs to be done. All detailing shops charge extra for dog hair but $450 seems steep to me.

Where are you, she could probably do it for 150 or less.

I would push back on that charge. Make them prove it, and that you signed for that.

Yes, you can bring pets in your rental cars at most Avis locations; just call your pickup location to confirm before you arrive. Also return your rental car in clean condition and free of pet hair and smells to avoid a cleaning fee of up to $450.

If all that was required was vacuuming, I'd contest it. All they can do is say no.

detail my pre-Tacoma PU for $125. I'd give him a 25 dollar tip on top.

Your rental place is doing the "replace the fender for a ding thing", a ripoff. Probably their business model. I think I'd raise hell.

There are people who vacuum, shampoo carpets, and wash for that much but since this was a rental, I'd expect them to gouge a little. But no way in hell $450!
