Kaavan home update - We are almost there!!! Kaavan's home is almost complete!
From the description:
As some of you will know, we build steadily toward the completion of Kaavan's forest home, but remain apace of funds available. I've been wanting to move on Kaavan's pool, as rainy season is not so far off.
I was elated to hear a couple of days ago of a matched donation coming through that would virtually cover the cost of cement for the boy's giant pool. As soon as funds were available, the trucks began to roll.
A word of deep gratitude to Loreen La Penna, and a matching fund from Microsoft. Thank you Thank you Thank you.
FYI
Loreen La Penna has been involved with SEF for many years. Her loyalty and support is applauded. She provided the funds for many timely matters, including our ENP Weighscale, help during our EEHV crisis, the construction of a 20-acre monkey habitat at CWS, and just so much general loving Care for our animals in need. Thank you, Loreen!
We are almost there !!! Kaavan's home is almost complete!
Rounding the final corner on the bond beam of the shelter wall. Three hundred meters to go, or 15 trucks x $500/truck. The pool is well underway. Likely 2 weeks to completion. The roof will start as soon as the pool is finished.
The well pumps and solar panel setup have yet to be funded. The cost is $7000. There will be 6 solar panels per well, and 8 panels to supply a battery backup to run pumps at least 6 hours continuously.
I am so excited to see Kaavan in his new home. He is special to me, and our friendship sound. But he is no more deserving than the thousands of bulls who suffer under yoke and chain and intolerable harm. That is what we will address, post-Kaavan's release to his own forest home, with his new companions. Truth said, all elephants deserve no less than Kaavan. We must establish a new standard of care and respect. And the life of the captive elephant, forced breeding and sale of the young, abusive training for insipid reasons, this must come to an end.
Let Kaavan's new home represent Change, and a new standard of care for captive elephants.
We have had such great support from those who have followed Kaavan's life, or our own work at Save Elephant Foundation. Kaavan's home is almost complete. We still need about ~$30 000 to finish all.
Today, I want to recognize and thank someone who has purchased 70 meters of Kaavan's forest wall. Dina Khan, you are platinum !
Together, large and small, we are building the future of captive elephants !
