Adjectives are subjective and have no place in discussion of feelings. Be explicit in describing feelings; ambiguity is among my pet peeves. For example, someone may have ‘negative feelings’ toward someone else, but WTF does that mean? Perceived dishonesty? Halitosis? Disagree with political views? These may or may not be ‘painful.’ A Venn diagram would be blurry on where ‘negative’ and ‘painful’ overlap.

We need positivity in our life. Try it! A sample below.

I have positive feelings about not hearing the expression "pet peeve". Please stop using it.

Got old man creakiness this morning. Once I move around it usually gets better. Now I understand the noises my late father made getting up from the couch. "EHHHHH!"

It's a minor matter, all things considered.

The floating aspect is when my knees finally give out and I get a Hoveround. That last one is the great inevitable.

I can have negative feelings about something. For instance, I have negative feelings about a plan the city has to remove parking spaces where I often park.

I have painful feelings when I read about yet another shooting incident.

are too ambiguous and don't really indicate degree. I'm more likely to say I feel like s*it or That bugs me because... I don't use "painful" at all because I think it is over used to the point of meaninglessness. It's become a weasel word. It has come to the point where every unpleasant feeling is described as painful. I feel the same way about "devastated." I have a friend who is devastated about everything. "I was devastated when my dinner didn't turn out right." If that is true, you need to seek help.

about TFG; I will say that I detest his f*cking guts. I don't have negative feelings about the GOPers in the Senate; I think they are the dumbest, most pernicious and useless assholes in the history of the universe. I don't have negative feelings about creeping bellflower; it's a loathsome weed that I hate with the fire of a thousand suns. Be specific and don't beat around the bush.
