I don't usually like car commercials - but this one has a cat in it!
The ending got a laugh from me.

(34,136 posts)But the cat one really caught me by surprise.
Cat person here but I really like their dog ads as well.
I only included a link to that particular ad because of the cat at the end.

Yep, we're big dog lovers...and kitties too. (Picking up our new rescue kitty Sat. )

(34,136 posts)While I probably will never buy a Subaru, I can appreciate the artistry of their ads, especially when they include animals.

(11,831 posts)are probably the only cars we will ever have.

(34,136 posts)A good friend sells them. My most recent car is a Honda Fit and he got me a killer deal for it. Subarus are good cars - I've know people who own them and swear by them.

(2,529 posts)My son is a mechanic at the local Honda dealer and the missus likes their cars. They do little for me emotionally and I love my Outback. It looks like I live in it as it has gear for biking, hammocking, kayaking, and running in it all the time.

(34,136 posts)He loves that car so we'll keep it going as long as possible, but he puts a good number of miles on it so it will be the next to go. The Honda Fit is too small to take on trips (and too small for my husband to drive comfortably even short distances), and our twenty year old GMC Suburban is too old and too poor in gas mileage (13 mpg) to use for distances (unless we're hauling a big load).
So a mid-sized SUV would be great. We had a Honda Pilot for a while and it had poor mileage and I just didn't like it. A CRV would be nice - if they made them as hybrids. Something a hair larger than the Prius but not as big as the Pilot would be just right.
Since it would be used for trips, an all electric vehicle is not practical - we tend to drive 300-400 miles per day if on a long trip.
By the time we're ready to buy, the entire market may have changed so I am keeping my eyes on what is out there.

(11,476 posts)Dealership in CA said Honda is taking its time to do electric car because when they do it they want first class car no problems and high miles since most their cars are good on gas.

(34,136 posts)And it's nice and peppy. Right now, the only SUV hybrid they have is the Pilot and I won't have another of those. I didn't find it comfortable and it is just larger than we need.
A couple of years ago I'd read the Honda was going to come out with a hybrid CRV - I would have gotten one of those, but if they have them, they are not in this country. That's about as small as I'd want to go for a long distance driving vehicle and it would be great around town.

(11,476 posts)I get between 55 & 60 mpg in my Prius. Its a regular Prius.

(34,136 posts)But he does drive as economically as when he had our 2006 Prius. The V doesn't give the same feedback on economy as the old Prius did.
Heck, I just figured out how the Fit tells me how efficiently I'm driving. I was looking at it backwards. I do not have an exact mileage figure - I only filled it up for the fourth time since I bought it in December 2019. Right after that, Covid came along, so I wasn't driving much. They gave it to me with a full tank, so this is the fifth tank and I have just over 1300 miles on the odometer. I think that works out to about 36 mpg but I am not sure of the exact mileage or how many gallons have gone into it.
Tree Lady
(11,476 posts)Its a 2017 with 32,000 miles on it. I forced myself to drive like it led me to, starting up from a stop slowly. First few years I got between 40-55mpg, it actually got better as I learned to drive it and as car had a few miles on it. I have taken it on quite a few trips to CA as my mom lives there and I am in OR.

(34,136 posts)I might hove gotten another after the 2006 died (battery pack replaced three times with refurbish packs, last time took out the computer) but would rather have had the V over the sedan. I think Toyota was really stupid to not continue the V. The RAV is like the Pilot, bigger than we need so wasteful in energy to use ordinarily.
Oh - I was wrong - now there is a hybrid Honda CRV. That might be our next car, since they are a nice size.

(6,606 posts)If I needed to buy another car it would most probably be a Subaru.

(2,529 posts)Driving down the highway with a kayak on the roof and a bike on the hitch makes people think I'm living my best life.
It's almost like being in a commercial with how many people smile and wave.

Thanks for sharing, I haven't had tears in my eyes from watching a commercial in a very long time.
