We had a mouse in a barrel we kept cowfeed in at the barn. It couldn't get out. Dad goes to the house, hand-carries the cat to the barn, puts it in the barrel with the mouse. Cat catches mouse. Jumps out of the barrel with it. Turns the mouse loose. Pats it on the head twice, and turns around and goes back to the house. "Go in peace, brother." Mouse went scot-free. A corn-fed, Grade A, USDA Choice Mouse, and the freakin' cat Lets. It. Loose!

Too funny. The mouser is having a Stand My Ground moment. And the cats? Appear really confused and confounded.

Made me laugh out loud.

We use to have a tabby named Hobbs. He was a stone cold killer. No playing. Just dispatching and presenting his handiwork to his peeps. Every time my better half screeched in the morning, I figured Hobbs had been on a "dispatching" spree the night before.

A Mother cat teaches her kittens how to hunt. If the cat is separated from the Mother before she has taught them then this is the usual response. They are lovely kitties!

I'd rather she not bring me anything, but cats do not mind very well.

She's a sweetheart other than being a prolific serial killer. Showed up on my back porch. Went from being afraid to come near, to now she follows me everywhere, sleeps on my bed, loves scratches and belly rubs. Stays in the house more and more but still loves the outside.

The mouse is hilarious, just keeps teasing the cat.

is also a stone killer. 5 years old, 70+ mice, 9 rats. Also three snakes, but she wasn’t sure about them so I was able to let them go unharmed. Otherwise the nicest, most untroublemaking cat you can imagine.

She lets blue jays steal catfood from her bowl. Doesn't care, makes zero effort to chase them away, much less have them for breakfast. It's pretty amusing.

In our house we had a strict rule: no eating mice inside the house. And in St. Maries, pretty much everyone's house was infested with mice during the winter, so he caught something like ten mice a day and ate them all.

Morris would catch a mouse, kill it, walk to the back door, put his mouse on the floor, cover it with his foot, then cry loudly - he was orange, the loudest color of house cat - until someone would let him out. He'd go on the back porch, eat his mouse then cry to be let back in. Twenty or thirty minutes later..."Jim, go let your cat out, he caught another one."

For reasons that should be obvious, we didn't buy cat food in the winter. He couldn't have held it anyway. There was always a bowl of dry down for him, and it stayed full all winter.
