I think Mama Skittish is getting more comfortable bringing her brood over for their meals

Yesterday she seemed to be 'on guard' the whole time they were eating. This morning she was MUCH more relaxed. And, the little grey fluffy bug didn't FLEE when she saw me, this morning. At first she kind bounded off but then stopped, assumed 'bread loaf' position, and then sauntered right back to the food bowl. Which is EXACTLY how her mama acted, when she first started coming around.

Still absolutely no interest being shown in the box padded with an old towel, that I put by the food station. Maybe I'll toss in some fresh catnip to sweeten the deal.

You can make one out of a Styrofoam ice chest. Use straw inside.

It's an old carry crate - a BIG one - that I've weatherproofed. I moved it away from the house, to beneath some shrubs.

I'm going to try some new bedding and see if that might attract them.

The grey with the white paws - Skittish Mittens. The completely light grey one I'm calling Pearl and the Tuxedo, Sammy.

My brother has experience with this so once he gets back from California, we'll set the live trap and HOPEFULLY get her taken care of. I also hope to catch the kittens but they are so FAST. I'm going to spend as much time as I can in the back yard so that they will get accustomed to seeing me, and hopefully realize I'm not a threat. Well, until I cat-nap them, that is.

Nothing to do with capturing them, but it might put them at ease for a bit....

Sophie isn't too bad around other cats - she gets a bit snippy but isn't much of a fighter. I'd just keep them separated, for a while, and let them become acquainted at a closer range. I'd definitely try to adopt out the others.
