But seriously, these birds are talonted!

(12,157 posts)8. Well, it's not much to crow about
but I wanted to duck into this thread and peck out something amusing if I could.

(65,403 posts)9. Is your name intended as homage to Pinboy3niner?

(12,157 posts)12. No, although I'm a huge fan.
Sergeant Pinback, a character in the 1974 science fiction movie Dark Star, is the accidental spacecraft stowaway played by Dan O'Bannon.
As noted in my 10,000th post in March announcing my DU username change:
Dan O'Bannon as Sgt. Pinback
However, I'm happy to bask in a little of pinboy3niner's reflected luster. He represented the best of us in so many ways.
As noted in my 10,000th post in March announcing my DU username change:
Five years after Dark Star's release, O'Bannon would haunt us all forever with his screenplay for Alien. If you haven't seen the hilarious and imaginative Dark Star yet which started as a USC student project by O'Bannon and John Carpenter check it out. You're in for a treat.

(12,157 posts)7. This comment made my heart flutter!
He soared like an eagle even though he posted among us turkeys.
Thanks for the high praise!

(24,007 posts)11. I am not as long-term a member as some here, so missed out on...
...several years of his wit, unfortunately. I was always in awe of his verbal creativity, and the many very clever responses he would get.

(82,849 posts)10. That, and at :50 I wanted to yell, "Same team!"
The yellows were battling each other for possession. Far too reminiscent of my beloved Blazers.

(24,007 posts)5. So the big question here is how do the yellow ones know...
...to always go to the basket on the left and the green ones to the basket on the left?
Very entertaining.
