In March I rented a car for a 4-day, 1000-mile round trip. Cost was about $350.
Want to do the same now, and that rental is anywhere from $700 to over $1,000. I've read the articles about why this is happening, so I don't need an explanation.
Has anyone had any surprising luck with reasonably priced car rentals in the northeast?

(10,749 posts)We have only Hertz and Enterprise, and they are definitely not running at 29.95 specials, on any vehicles. Also, I'm trying to avoid the use of a pickup. I have a pick and I really don't like driving that when I'm circumnavigating NYC and NJ. Looks like that'll be what I'll do, but the other post was right. The days where car rental was a minor add-on are gone, at least for now.
