(14,764 posts)She is all over the interwebs in controversy. Her tik tok's are all staged - someone else does the hard work and she pops in for a glam shot.
Seriously. She is dangerous.
If anyone watches her BS and believes bees are the cuddly creatures she makes them out to be, they will end up seriously injured. She makes her vid's with no PPE. After the bulk of the colonies have been vacuumed up and removed. There are claims that she even drugs the remaining bees to make them safer to handle.
Her videos are all BS.
Yes, I am a beekeeper. No, I don't always wear full PPE, but I know my bees, and I know there are times when I have to fully suit up. And, I don't even live in texas which has some very aggressive bees (many africanized strains exist there).
PLEASE don't do what she is staging in those videos. It is make believe.
She is dangerous. Period.

(14,764 posts)It's a podcast by a certified master beekeeper. He explains it pretty well.

(14,764 posts)They are social insects, and each member of a colony has a specific job at a specific time. The european honeybee, apis melifera, is not aggressive or defensive when they out foraging. You won't get stung by one unless it perceives you as a treat (trying to pick it up) or you step on it. Sometimes they get caught in long hair and they will sting if they can't get free, or they will crawl up a leg and you will get stung when you sit down or otherwise squeeze them.
(The idiot doesn't even tie her hair up. She lets it flow like she is on a cover shoot. And she wears dark clothing and sunglasses, which are provoking to bees.)
Africanized bees are a different story. They are far more defensive and will aggressively pursue you if you are 100's of feet from their hive. And they attack in far greater numbers than a european strain will.
Also, bee's will almost always do what is right for the colony, and will selflessly leave the hive when they get sick or are approaching death and can't pull their weight (they only live 30-45 days anyway).
Breathing life back into one is a dumb, meaningless stunt.
Dr. Tom Seeley has some excellent books on bees. One is honeybee democracy which explains their community structure and lifecycle. It's a very good read.
Sorry for the rants. I hate self promoters who discard science and safety in the name of getting attention.
