is known here in the US as popovers. They are light, airy, and eggy. Yorkshire pudding is usually made in one large pan whereas popovers are made in a muffin tin.

Apparently the rock I've been living under is even larger than I thought.

I started making popovers when I was about 12, using the recipe from my mother's cookbook that had a copyright date of about 1935. While the instructions were a tiny bit complicated for me at that age, they weren't insurmountable. And while I had never had popovers before, they seemed to turn out just okay. Ever after, (and that was some 60 years ago I first made popovers) I've thought that the complexity and difficulty of making popovers was exaggerated.

Wow. They are the same as Yorkshire Pudding. (Walks away, shaking her head in disbelief)

The tricky part about making popovers for a dinner party is that you have to make the batter and bake them at the last minute.

I used to make them for my mother - they were her favorites.

preheat oven to 400

made with beef drippings, eggs, flour, milk and salt.

Beef drippings in the bottom of the pan (pan should be a little bit warm) at least 1/2 an inch, whisk together 1 tablespoon salt and 1 1/2 cups of flour mix together 2 large eggs & 1 cup of milk and combine with flour and salt pour into pan with drippings

place pan in oven for 20 minutes, turn the oven down to 250 F for about 10 to 15 more minutes.

It should rise and turn brown and yellow. Eat it all at once. It is so good you can feel it going right to your heart.

So maybe popovers aren't the same as Yorkshire pudding? Just maybe a cousin? Second cousin twice removed?

Arby's beef and cheddar, curly fries, root beer. Or...

Extra-supreme combo pizza with everything, including anchovies, root beer. (no pineapple or ham, of course. That would be just ludicrous.) Or...

Anything from Taco Bell, or...

Oh gosh, there are so many perfect meals to choose from. And I haven't even touched on Mexican, Italian, Indian, or Chinese.

I recently found Salted Caramel Ice Cream, which is basically vanilla with lots of the best caramel I've ever had, and a few chocolate chunks mixed in. Yummy!

Mushroom and Leek soup

Lime sorbet

Crab cakes with roasted red pepper sauce

Small fruit cup of strawberries, feta cheese, and mint leaves (I slice the berries)

Simple roasted chicken served with
a squash and orzo salad
homemade dinner roll with honey butter

Watermelon slivers - really thin shavings lightly sprinkled with salt

Creamy chocolate torte served with coffee.

Water to drink. (We like water)

This was our anniversary dinner last year. I cooked.

Wasn't perfect but it was tasty even if not photogenic.
