She brought little Tuxie with her, to the 'breakfast bar' this morning. Normally Tuxie runs away as soon as I am sighted but today - just an amble over to the food and water. I got a few, very soft hisses from Skittish when I brought out the food. That stopped when she realized I was bringing her the wet/dry mix. I sat on the deck and just absorbed the wonderment.
I'm not optimistic I'll have this experience with the other kittens, for a while, but maybe with Mama and Tuxie getting comfortable with my presence, they will follow suit.
I did see her nursing them, yesterday, so it's a bit too early to try and catch Skittish and get her fixed.

(3,412 posts)Hope you can get mamma fixed and catch the little tux. He looks young enough to be tamed and eventually adopted. My husband tamed our feral kitten nearly 2 years ago. She was mostly frightened and not too aggressive. It helped that we had an older, docile male cat in the house already. It takes a lot of patience to tame the feral kitties, but the results are SO worth it ❤️ Thats her on the left, Sophie, hugging her big brother Stanley.

(26,289 posts)Two grey (one with white mittens) and a smoky brown. Those three are still pretty nervous.
My brother has experience in catching ferals so when he gets back home, that will be our project. I think the kittens will be old enough, by then, to be separated from Mama.

(5,068 posts)She has made it her home in the last couple days. I think the only food she has ever had since she was weaned is what she attacked and killed herself. At least I think she is a her. She is a long-haired tri-colored kitten. I have to use a grabber to put her food down. She attacks it as if it is a living thing she has to catch. She rubs against my leg as though she wants petted but she is still at the stage where it would take thick gloves to actually pet her. I call her Sassy. My indoor cats sit at the storm door and hiss at her. I can't bring her in until I can catch her and take her to a vet to be sure she does not have feline leukemia or something.

(26,289 posts)Even though they sure love to visit the food bowl, I saw, the other day, that they are still nursing.
