Aeroport Charles de Gaulle, a 6 hour layover, and a question, please.....

Hello all fellow DU travel lovers and aspirants,

Some of you know my love of travel. Next year, I will be transiting through Paris' Aéroport Charles de Gaulle as part of my trip. Sadly, I only have a 6 hour layover there. Yes, I could alter my plans to spend more time in Paris, but that would increase my overall costs (and I've already been to Paris twice).

Question: Given the security and logistical concerns of getting in and out of the airport there, is there any practical and comfortable way to have lunch outside that airport during the 6 hour layover ? I know security demands that you show up early (2 to 3 hours early in the USA, at least an hour early at Paris per another website).

The airport website is not a lot of help ( https://www.parisaeroport.fr/en/passengers/flight-preparation/your-trip/check-in ).

Lunch in Paris (outside of the airport) with my relatives an impossible dream this time ? Thank you so much for your help !

I'll bet there is a good restaurant in the airport, though probably more expensive, panader0 Jun 2021 #10

You'd probably want to use a cab or Uber from the airport and have reservations at your choice of dining. I would not go all the way into the city center or even very far from the airport to ensure that you get back in time to not miss your flight.

Bon chance!

If there's a spot close enough by the airport, there's a chance but I'd forget about Paris with only a 6 hour window.
You can count on delays to begin with. If the 6 hours you referred to are only 6 hours, without factoring in delays, queuing time, security, etc., those six hours will go by remarkably fast. There are decent places in the airport for lunch if your relatives can meet you there.

there are lockboxes for luggage in the airport that you can use.
Most of the time they can be checked all the way and custom inspection happens at final destination. For example I often do Dulles-cdg- nte ( nantes) and it's checked all the way to nantes even if I have a 6hours layoff which is typical since us flights land around 730am and flights to nantes are late morning, early afternoon.

and your relatives could meet you there. After all, you've gone over halfway....
I'd be nervous about leaving to eat in a six hour window.
