I've seen Spooky, Jr, Scooter and Mittens, but no Tuxie, for a couple of days, now. I tell myself that I have missed seeing some of the others, but they eventually turned up.
I'll just keep watching and peeking across the fence into the neighbor's yard. I sure wish Skittish had chosen to den beneath the shrubs next to my house. Maybe there's just too much activity because I'm always out in the yard, where as I rarely even see my neighbors.

(26,263 posts)The kittens still RUN from me, but they are starting to hang out in my yard, a whole lot more. And that was how their mama and I started our 'relationship'.

(14,624 posts)I live in a very dense urban area and there's a house about a block from me where a bunch of cats were being fed years ago. About 8 years ago a very pregnant cat showed up at my house, enticed I guess by the food I put out for other feral cats. She was a frequent guest after that, and about a week later she disappeared for a while. When she returned, she had obviously given birth.
She kept coming back several times a day to eat after she gave birth, then weeks later she brought one of her kittens to my house for a meal. The next day she came back with 2, the next day 3, etc. etc. Eventually she bought 5 kittens with her.
The mother now lives in my back yard with 3 of her offspring. The other 2 of her kittens stayed at the house down the block. I used to see them when I drove by, but not any more. I don't know what happened to them.
The mom and her 3 kittens (adults now) are part of a colony of 6 who live in my yard. It's been a pretty steady colony for quite some time. There were several other people besides me who were TNR-ing and we finally got the population under control. I haven't seen any kittens in years.
I love hearing stories about people who care for feral cat colonies!
