Heat Dome: Terns nest that held 3 eggs is now empty & abandoned.
I really didn't want to do my bike ride this AM. I need to for my lungs but I also dreaded going through the wildlife area I love & seeing the aftermath.
I mentioned this poor momma in an OP I wrote a few days ago, during the heat wave.

She had made a nest on a levy trail. The road had been repaired with gravel. The Terns nest on Gravel beaches. Because there are many fewer of those available to them they will nest in any open gravel area they can find. I passed by her nest at a respectful distance before the heatwave. I spotted 3 large eggs in the nest.
And today it was empty. The tiny stones laid in an array where she made her nest was empty.
Very few larger birds spotted today & no rabbits only squirrels. Only heaven knows the true total of death & suffering the animals of upper 1/3 of our nation. Everyone talks about the Human suffering & deaths. I can guarantee you it is a pittance compared to the suffering of those most innocent.
I hope our children enjoy those animatronic forest critters & 3d holo-tree forests.
