I've been a volunteer litter & signage removal for I.D.O.T for 20 years. The last 2 days I was challenged by my State Overlords to clean an exit that had not been cleaned since 2008. Took 2 days, but it's clean as a whistle: Tons of masks, 'Fireball' bottles, masks, oven door, pipes, cable, diapers, clothes...you name it! The pic tells the story, PLEASE, FFS, PLEASE DO NOT LITTER! That is all.

(4,175 posts)ANY sign with the exception of a one day 'event',that is on ANY utility pole or within 30 feet from th eroad. Also, any sign promoting these shyster businesses, 'WE PAY CASH...DECK CLEANING...etc. They all go. Realtor signage is moved back 30 feet from road, as is weddings, birthdays, etc. Thanks for your GREAT question!

(26,366 posts)They must pass their old signs several times a week.
And if it is a week past the election, please remove your "vote for ..." sign.

(16,383 posts)Littering infuriates me and I always notice it when I drive. Does your state have its own program, or did you contact them to volunteer? I'm curious: do you see many snakes? Snakes don't bother me, just want to know.

(4,175 posts)...ants, ticks, the occasional wounded raccoon or possum, has to be humanly dispatched. If you wanna do this, and I recommend it, tell your district office you'll need bags, set a boundary, and go to work. I have a cart on my vehicle, carry a wheelie garbage can, inserted orange bag, rubber banded and a picker. You'll need a REALLY good tight picker, they're pricey, but worth it. RMS Featherweight The Original Reacher is a good one. You'll want permethrin for tics for your shoes and clothes, and I like REPEL for skin, but Deep Woods off will do as well. Next, gloves and a vest are a MUST HAVE, and always tell someone where you'll be picking, in case you fall, etc. Yep, it's not for everybody, but I thrive doing it. Got any particular questions, just ask.
