I'm old enough to remember when they played music videos.

(33,643 posts)IMHO
But a REAL music nerd could tell me what famous band the two members of Buggles (briefly, to make 1 album) joined immediately after Buggles temporarily disbanded shortly after this song came out (they put out one more album as Buggles AFTER this other group stint), without looking it up
If you do, put the answer in your reply, not the subject line, so others can guess w/o seeing your answer

(33,643 posts)I think you'll agree when you do ... that's a pretty good music trivia question
Earth-shine
(4,044 posts)Trevor Horn and Geoff Downes (The Buggles) played on the Yes Drama album. (Damn good album, and the very first Yes album without Jon Anderson.)
Horn went on to produce albums. Downes continued to play with Yes on some albums and tours. He and Yes grew old together.
I didn't have to look up anything. Drama was the first Yes album I bought, at age 16. Many more followed.
What else ya got Lebowski? That was nothin.

(33,643 posts)Alright, here's another one for you ...
What do these 3 songs have in common:
Depeche Mode - Just Can't Get Enough
Yaz - Situation
Erasure - Chains of Love
Earth-shine
(4,044 posts)1) The names of the songs appear in a post on the DU.
2) I have heard of the band Depeche Mode. A roommate in college, circa 1985, really liked them. As for the others, I do not know of them. I'm a progressive/classic rock kind of guy.
Hey there, big guy.

I'm two years younger than you based on your first post
Artists I've seen in concert, many of them more than once, almost all in the 80's and 90's:
Yes, Journey (1980), Pink Floyd, Roger Waters, David Gilmour, Sabbath (with Dio), Dio, Iron Maiden, Saxon, Judas Priest, REO Speedwagon, Paul McCartney, Gamma, Aerosmith, Page/Plant, AC/DC, G&R, Metallica, ZZ Top, The Boss, Elton John, Rolling Stones, The Who, Rush, Genesis, Van Halen, Mellencamp, Grateful Dead, Bob Dylan, Kiss (1978), Cheap Trick, Billy Idol, Extreme, Steve Earle, Pretenders, Beach Boys, Linda Ronstadt, Elvin Bishop, Tower of Power ... you get the idea.
But I've also seen, many of them more than once, also in the 80's and 90's:
U2 (7 times, my record for 1 band), The Cure, INXS, Morrissey, REM, Nine Inch Nails, Sugar, Pixies, Throwing Muses, Jawbreaker, Oasis, Faith No More, Toadies, Radiohead, Wilco, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Smashing Pumpkins, Janes Addiction, Depeche Mode, Adam Ant, Rancid, Social Distortion, Afghan Whigs, Counting Crows, Jason Isbell, Son Volt
So, to expand your musical horizons, some classic 80's early 90's alternative British synth tunes
The answer is the ... the stoic keyboardist in the back of the last one? His name is Vince Clarke. He was a founding member of all three bands, and wrote all three songs (co-wrote the last one w/the singer).

(8,599 posts)First doesn't imply best lol. I've never been a big fan; she has some vocal affectations that annoy the hell out of me.
That said, I saw her when she was touring for her first album, and they were great. It was in a tiny old theater with great acoustics in Tampa, and we were in the second row.
I will always acknowledge she has a helluva voice, even with the annoying bits.
