The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsI just had a taste of Sturgis here in Sheboygan.
Over a dozen Harleys were just on one street a block away, roaring past, heading east.
I don't know of any biker events going on, have to look in community announcements later.
But wow, what a racket.

(182,834 posts)I had a motorcycle guy explain to me once that the noise serves as a safety measure too. People dont see bikes as well so the noise alerts drivers to their presence.

They just like the noise.

Several times a summer a group of motorcycles will roar by, I have counted 25 or more a few times, and boy are they loud.

...that was much quieter than the pipes favored by many motorcycle enthusiasts.
Most of the bikes sporting those custom pipes are not within the law, just as my Mazda with its rusty exhaust was not. But police are understandably reluctant to open that can of worms.

(7,628 posts)Has been advertising and organizing Thursday night concerts at a local park for the past month during a raging pandemic. Not only do I get tired of listening to this every Thursday night, but only 52% of our county is vaccinated. He also belongs to a bike club too, but luckily that Covid party wasn't held in our county.

The concert goers were complaining online about how long the beer lines were. Priorities.

And the big-bearded, big-bellied guys.
And the torn denim.
And the Nazi imagery.
