trivial moment at gas station that renewed my faith in humanity...

Unfortunately, this does not involve saving any animals

I had to get air in my tires, since my Honda was harassing me about it. So, I pull into this suburban gas station and try to do it myself, with my credit card. In the 21st century, the machine still prefers quarters. However, it did have a credit card reader with a tiny tiny screen I could barely read and the credit card mechanism did not seem to be working. I had no quarters.

So, I walk into the small headquarters building to tell the attendant I was having problems with it. The attendant was chatting with a guy about my age, and the guy volunteers on the spot to help me. He walks out to the machine, finds out (as I did) that the CC mechanism wasn't working right, and talked to the attendant about quarters. The attendant pays for $1.50 in quarters for 4 minutes, at no charge to me ! The guy walks around my Honda (since all the dust caps were already off) and fills up all 4 tires.

I thanked both for their kindness, and fist-bumped the female attendant (good COVID-19 hygiene, dontcha know). The guy and I talk for a minute and he says he's from California, been in Florida only 2 weeks. He loves Florida because taxes are so much lower (I held my tongue about that), and.... the only bad thing about all this is, he said he loved the politics in Florida. I groaned inwardly but hey, the dude took his time to help me. He brought up the politics, not me. I know better in Florida LOL

People can be great. Little things like this just remind me periodically. Have a great night, everyone !
