Elephants Run To Greet The Newly Rescued Baby Elephant "Chaba"

I feel so bad for the mom, Bunma, she is so malnourished and so stressed out when they were rescued last week. She was constantly swaying and pacing a week ago and couldn't produce enough milk for baby Chaba. She seems much better emotionally and she is able to feed little Chaba on her own now. So happy they are getting such a warm welcome from Pyi Mai's family.

Sometimes finding these snippets of joy are the only things that get me through the day. I'm glad you enjoy them, too.

“But while humans might offer a hug, elephants have an approach all their own: they reach out and touch their trunk to the other elephant's genitals, put their trunks in the other elephant's mouth, or make a high-pitched noise. “

Mama certainly was distressed but that is now over for her. She will live in peace with compassionate, loving caretakers forever now.

Thanks for posting this, catbyte! The rest of the news is so damn awful that this little break is a genuinely welcome relief.
