I belong to a "weird finds" group on FB

The group is aggressively a-political, to the point that I had a post deleted in a discussion about whether apples or oranges are better. I commented that I could never vote for the orange candidate, and the post was wiped within about three minutes!

There's been some excited chatter about an 800 year old chain mail garment found in Ireland:

https://www.irishtimes.com/news/offbeat/extraordinary-800-year-old-chain-mail-found-in-co-longford-1.4652228

Obviously, the iron hauberk has a lot of oxidation, so I posted

"If you need suggestions on how to clean your rusty chain mail, you should use the best abrasive for the job. That's why I vote for byrnie sanders."

A byrnie is like a chain mail t-shirt, so admittedly not exactly what was found. And they yanked the post!

I don't mind because it's TOS etc., but come on! How often do you get to roll out a pun like that?!?

Damn their political squeamishness!

At least not in this case. I didn't use any profanity or insult anyone, so I won't run afoul of any Zuckbots. Worst case would be me getting booted from the group.

I did post an objectively non-political comment as a follow-up:

"Fun fact: a byrnie is another kind of chain mail shirt, kind of like a t-shirt."

Relevant and educational and fun for all!

When magnificent puns are outlawed, then only outlaws will drop magnificent puns!
