In the beginning of June I bought an eBike & I thought about getting a GoPro. But after watching a few eBike videos I talked myself out of it. I didn't think I'd even watch my own videos, much less subject anyone else to them.
Then on Sunday I went on a long ride on a bike path & at one point a Garter snake crossed right in front of me so fast I had to swerve to miss it, but I came so close it coiled up right in the middle of the path. Way cool to watch!
Then, like 15 minutes later I was going through a wooded area & I startled this big ass owl that flew off about 5 feet over my head that startled the hell out of me! I sure wished I'd have had a camera (besides my phone buried deep in my pocket) with me.
So I decided I want to go ahead & get an active camera like a GoPro, but I don't want to really spend that much for something I probably won't use that much if there's an alternative that's going to work for me. I've seen them anywhere from $25 but I want something reliable etc. Not only that, but there are several versions of just the GoPro, so if that's what's recommended I want to make sure I get the right model.

(2,533 posts)I'm more than happy with the video but the sound needed help. Model is Crosstour 1080p it is a few years old.
For documenting accidents and wildlife encounters it is worth every penny. I turn it on at the start of the ride & leave it on.
Biscuits Basket short obstacle ride.

(14,811 posts)Our bike paths around here are all paved, well marked & they go in all directions.
I had a mountain bike for nearly 20 years but I never got much (off road) dirt on the tires. For the last 5 years or so I only rode my bike to the tennis courts about a 1/2 mile away, but it's all uphill coming home. With my tennis bag, cooler & my ball hopper I actually had to walk it a couple of blocks until the incline was manageable. That's what made me decide to get an eBike. I never even took my mountain bike on the bike paths but now I go at least every other day.

(2,533 posts)The only video I have that shows the bike is from last week I wrapped a chain deep into the freewheel (my fault). Had a long walk home saved by a oyster crate(!).
I put larger tires (too large actually but I fit 'em) & switched the gearing to a 1x 7. Cheap gravel bike.
I hope to get a new rear wheel for more strength & gear.
For some reason the playback quality on Gdrive is less than the original. Anyhow this is my bike.
